Majority of people cannot believe that there are trillions of bacteria swimming over their skin. But as long as people cannot live without nitrogen, carbon, ability to digest their food and protection from disease, then it is impossible to live without bacteria. Bacteria are found in our digestive system including the esophagus, mouth and stomach. They also exist in both small and large intestine. Most people only consider bacteria as disease causing parasites. It is true that bacteria are responsible for a big number of human diseases, but it is impossible for humans to live without bacteria.
There are friendly bacteria and harmful bacteria. A human bowel houses numerous bacteria that are harmful and disease causing, though there are a few that are beneficial to our body. The friendly bacteria are known as pro-biotics. These friendly bacteria are found throughout the digestive system of the human body, but mostly found in the small and large intestine. In case the harmful bacteria are more than the friendly ones in the bowel, the level of toxin in the body will rise. If the level of toxins in rises, then it can lead to serious complications such as liver and kidney diseases, cancer, high blood pressure, artery disease and a poor immune system. It can also lead to less production of enzymes and vitamins in the body.
Here are some of the reasons why humans cannot survive without the friendly bacteria.
Bacteria normalizes bowel movement- Bacteria provide help in the processing of human body wastes. Actually, they decrease the total time taken by body waste products to pass through the body. They therefore assist in relieving constipation.
Bacteria assist in formation of vitamins- Bacteria help in the formation of certain vitamins like folic acid, vitamin K, biotin, riboflavin, pyridoxine, cobalamin and pantothenic. They also assist in production of at least 7 important B vitamins.
Bacteria assist in improving immune system- Friendly bacteria speed up the production of antibodies. This is very important in humans because antibodies are responsible for fighting harmful bacteria and fungi. This reduces the possibility of certain infections and diseases cause dangerous bacteria and fungi.
Bacteria produce acids in the colon- They produce by-products of lactic and acetic acids along with the creation of an uneven fatty acid. The by-products of lactic and acetic acids assist in fighting dangerous bacteria such as Shigella, Salmonella and E. coli. When these fatty acids are produced by probiotics, the growth and survival of dangerous fungi and yeast cells become difficult.
Bacteria assist in creation of lactase- A lactase is an enzyme that assists in digestion of milk and milk products by a human body. Lactase creation in the body reduces milk allergies.
Bacteria help in regulating hormone levels- Absence of beneficial bacteria in the body could likely result in unbalanced and unregulated hormone levels. With unbalanced hormone in the body, it can lead to breast enlargement, hair loss, prostate trouble and irregular fat distribution in men.
Bacteria assist in regulating cholesterol levels in the body- Beneficial bacteria assist in reducing the cholesterol deposits in our bloodstreams and also help in elimination of cholesterol through our bowels. Without assistance of probiotics, the cholesterol level in the body would rise and accumulate in our bloodstreams leading to serious health problems.
Bacteria assist in elimination of intestinal gas- Dangerous bacteria produce foul smelling waste products and cause a lot of pain in the abdomen due to intestinal gas. The probiotics stop the harmful bacteria from controlling the colon and therefore it reduces the gas.
Bacteria kill cancer causing compounds in the body- Numerous cancer causing elements enter our body through ingested food and as a byproduct of different organisms, the beneficial bacteria kill them.
Bacteria assist in managing food cravings and high stress levels- Friendly bacteria assist in the management of high stress levels. They also help to reduce food cravings in our body.
Bacteria help in treatment of numerous diseases and infections- Beneficial bacteria assist in the treatment of numerous diseases and infections such as Psoriasis, Eczema, colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, vaginitis, urinary tract infections, rheumatoid arthritis, gastritis, diverticulitis, duodenitis and scleroderma.
Bacteria are beneficial during pregnancy- Beneficial bacteria have also showed that they are beneficial during the pregnancy, labor and postpartum periods.
